As a Medical Professional it is easy to think “There’ll never be a right time to have a family”…..” After my exams….once I’ve finished my training….when I get a Consultant post”
For those of us brave enough to take the plunge it seems utterly unachievable to maintain our enthusiasm and commitment to work while introducing a whole new dimension to our lives….babies!
Yet we see our colleagues do it every day….emptying out their giant handbag in search of a pen and revealing the true diversity of their lives; an Oxford handbook, a sheet of ‘gold stars’, a paper ready for submission, multiple cubes of sticky lego and a packed lunch lovingly packed along with the other three that morning. They give 100% at work and head home at the end of the day to do the same.
Despite hectic schedules and sleep deprivation, most of us want it all and are not willing to compromise. A love of our work and our children fuels this lifestyle.
So it was with the “If they can do it, so can I” attitude that I entered the realms of the Mummy Medic and it is my experience as a Pregnant, and now Mummy Anaesthetic trainee that I aim to create a concise, one-stop resource for healthcare professionals to refer to and interact with.
